The republic site belongs to the well-known clothing store by that name, and while its clothing line is primarily intended for young adults, it's perfectly safe for any age to purchase and wear the garments marketed by republic. The clothes are attractive, pleasant, and stylish within reason, and that's exactly how the models appear in them, which makes a refreshing change from the sulky models featured on the trendy sites. Inexplicably, republic omits the customary About Us page and substituted a "Press Area" link, which looks like a pretentious way to point up its reputation until one follows that link and finds there a totally unrelated publicity website for various clothing outlets. The natural comment on that website decision is a row of question marks, because republic benefits not at all from sending customers offsite to a place where they'd have to hunt for any republic-related material. That's an error in design by any measure, and makes one wonder exactly how sophisticated republic can possibly be. They have one hundred three stores-- a good number, but hardly one making republic a major player in young casual wear. republic delivers to both the UK and Europe, of course, at reasonable rates (UK costs are four pounds for next day delivery on orders under forty-five pounds, three pounds for the same type of order but standard delivery, and no charge on either type if one's order exceeds forty-five pounds in price).

republic's store locator features a Google map with pushpins, and whoever inserted the "Press Area" link clearly had a hand in adding a large yellow "R" to each pushpin. The "R" has the same effect as the Batman logo projected on Gotham City's skyline: it's distracting, unhelpful and covers far too much of the area one needs to see on the map, which in all but the northern portion of Great Britain is completely covered so one cannot see the designated locations. There are even three republic stores to be found in Ireland, which has cleverly provided one to Belfast but two to Dublin. To solidify its position with the young, republic even offers a ten percent discount to students.
